We are so excited to welcome Auburn fans to the Bay Area for this year's Auburn vs. Cal game! We have made this page to help answer any and all questions you may have about traveling to the Bay and cheering on the tigers.

Auburn Fan

The official Auburn fan section at Cal Memorial Stadium is located in Sections P and PP.  Visit our purchasing link for the most affordable game tickets out there, while also contributing to our club's scholarship fund for Northern California.

Travel & Accommodations

We recommend flying in a few days early for a long weekend getaway to San Francisco. We hope Auburn fans take time to enjoy the city and see the sights before watching the big game.

Fans should fly into either Oakland (OAK) or San Francisco (SFO). Typically OAK is a bit easier to get to Berkeley and has fewer delays, but both work!

Auburn Fan Hotel Room Block Discounts

All hotel block booking is now closed

When it comes to transportation – parking is at a premium, and we highly recommend you use ride-share (Uber/Lyft) and the many great public transportation options including BART which stops in Downtown Berkeley; a roughly 12min walk from the stadium. Otherwise, we recommend you have a rental car for your visit as it’s nice to have a car if you want to explore different areas within the Bay. It’s much more convenient and allows you to maximize your time.

Week Of

The NorCal Auburn Club has organized an array of activities to show off the city we call home. Join us for an exclusive Napa wine tasting tour, a 5k fun run at Chrissy Field, a scenic hike through Lands End or bike across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Join the party bus from SF!

Join us for a wild ride on Mad Dog's Party Bus to the Auburn vs Cal game on September 9th! We'll be meeting at Mad Dog in the Fog on Haight Street in San Francisco, CA.

Get ready for an epic tailgate party and an unforgettable game day experience. Don't miss out on the chance to cheer on your favorite team and show off your team spirit. Grab your friends, hop on the bus, and let's make some noise together! It's going to be a blast!

The bus leaves Mad Dog at 2pm and arrives on Cal campus around 4pm. The bus will depart 30 minutes after the final whistle.

Mad Dog in the Fog: 1568 Haight St, San Francisco, CA 94117

The Auburn Tailgate is limited to 1000 people. The NorCal club’s 200 tickets were offered to block ticket holders and sold out in four days.

There’s not a strong culture for tailgating at Cal, and we recommend folks bar hop around downtown Berkeley just off campus. (See below for bar recommendations) If you do plan your own tailgating event, please be sure to review the cooking permit details below.

Tiger Walk

The Auburn football team will unload the bus at Bancroft Way and walk the Koopman Pathway to enter the stadium.

The walk begins two hours before each game.

Gameday Cooking Permit Maps

If you’re tailgating at Cal, be sure to read this section! This is unique to the Cal bears pre-game experience.

Tailgating/BBQ using an open flame or cooking appliances will be allowed by CFM permit ONLY. Within these areas:

  • Maxwell Field

  • Goldman Plaza

  • Stadium East Rim

  • Clark Kerr Parking Lots – Northwest and Southwest Parking lots

See the below maps for more details on this BBQ exclusion zone. This is something you want to keep in mind if you’re tailgating in these areas – you’ll need to rethink your traditional tailgate menu of burgers and dogs, and potentially opt for more pre-made options or sandwich bars. You can find more info on Cal’s Gameday Cooking Permit Policy linked.

There are TONS of great restaurants and bars throughout Berkeley within walking distance to California Memorial Stadium.

Some favorites include:

  • The Tap Haus – 2518 Durant Ave Suite C – German-inspired beer hall and so much fun!

  • Jupiter – 2181 Shattuck Ave – Brewhouse, pizzas and walking distance to game. One of our favorites!

  • Kip's Bar & Grill - 2439 Durant Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704

  • Freehouse - 2700 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94704

  • Bear’s Lair Tavern – 2465 Bancroft Way – Good food and over 20 beers on tap.

  • Raleigh’s Pub – 2438 Telegraph Ave – Casual, convivial tavern for American eats, wine & beers served in a spacious indoor and outdoor setting.

  • Henry’s – 2600 Durant Ave – Great, higher quality drinks and eats located in the Graduate Hotel (also a great place to stay on game days!)

Visit Wine Country!

While you're in Northern California, be sure you make a visit to wine country or a local tasting room to try some California wine! If you are looking for a really special experience, be sure to check out our exclusive Insider Napa Valley Wine Tour, hosted by our NorCal Auburn Club President.

All wineries listed below will be offering discounts for Auburn fans throughout the game week. Book your tasting and tour online and use the discount code WAREAGLE where applicable.

Bar Hopping in Berkeley

San Francisco

San Francisco

Planning on making a visit to San Francisco while you're in the Bay Area? Check out the official SF travelers guide or see what our club leader's favorite things to do in the city!

What’s the deal with the Auburn Tailgate?

The Auburn Alumni Association will be hosting a tailgate. However, it was capped at 1,000 people and is officially sold out. We were slotted a limited number of club tickets, which were offered to our club members on a first-come first-serve basis, which sold out in 4 days. There’s not a strong culture for tailgating at Cal, and we recommend folks bar hop around downtown Berkeley just off campus. If you do plan your own tailgating event, please be sure to review the cooking permit details above.

What about Tigerwalk?

We’re still waiting on more information from the university on Tigerwalk. We’ll notify our club members and update our website as soon as we hear more!

Are there still hotel room blocks?

The majority of our hotel blocks have been booked or have expired. There is still room at the San Francisco Marriott.

Are there still game tickers for sale? What about resell tickets?

Check out this link to purchase game tickets. We’ve been contacted by a few folks about reselling tickets, but our club will have no participation resale.

Can I bring a purse to the game?

Each person can bring in one large clear bag, either a one gallon Ziploc-style bag or the 12'' by 6" by 12" clear bag, plus a small clutch. The larger clear bag must be a standard 12" by 6" by 12" bag made of clear PVC vinyl and is easily searched. The one-gallon Ziploc style bag is readily available, inexpensive and easily searched. The small clutch allows privacy for small personal items and is easily searched. For more information on Cal's Clear Bag Policy, check out their website.
